Nail Conditions & Treatment
Nails are an excellent indicator of overall health. Changes in color, shape and structure may be variants of normal condition but a trained clinician may detect subtle signs of disorder. Discoloration of the nail may indicate chronic tobacco use as well as a side effect of medications or an underlying illness. Dark streaks on the nail are often seen in healthy individuals as well as melanoma. Pitting of the nail may suggest eczema or psoriasis. And although fungal infections of the nails may be painless for most people, many with underlying medical conditions, such infection causes pain especially when walking. Indeed the nails are more than a blank canvass for nail art.
