Vein Therapy, Treatment Options for Reducing the Presence of Broken Capillaries on the Face and Body, in the Las Vegas Area
Veins are a natural component of our skin. When they enlarge or become more superficial veins, telangiectasias, are at least a cosmetic issue and at most a medical concern. Rosacea and sun damage lead to telangiectasias to the face commonly called “broken capillaries”. Pregnancy, trauma, birth control pills, standing for extended period may predispose to enlarged veins on the legs, spider veins and varicosities. Sometimes these veins are present at birth or soon after, hemangioma and port wine stain. Hemangiomas are benign but when they are located around the orbit it may interfere with the development of the eye. If located around the perianal area, it may interfere with defecation. Port wine stain may be associated with internal involvement. In these cases, veins become a medical concern.
There are multiple different modalities in treating veins. When telangiectasias are secondary to rosacea, a new cream is available to temporarily minimize the redness. Laser and electrocautery are more permanent solution to the problem. For the legs, laser and sclerotherapy are available. Sclerotherapy is the process of injecting a solution to the vein. Lastly for the hemangioma that is enlarging and affecting a vital organ, medical and surgical modalities are available.
