Restylane® Lyft™ Dermal Filler Injections, Non-Surgical Deep Wrinkle Treatment in the Las Vegas Area
Restylane® Lyft™ is one of the newest products on the market but was once sold as Perlane®. Dr. Reuel Aspacio of Summerlin Dermatology has been injecting Restylane® products for years with great results.
About Restylane® Lyft™ (formerly Perlane)
Lyft™ is the most robust form of the class Restylane® family of hyaluronic acid gel fillers used in facial rejuvenation. Restylane® Lyft™ was formerly called Perlane® in the U.S. and the products are exactly the same. Restylane® Lyft™ is simply a larger gel particle version of the classic Restylane®. It is approved for the improvement of deep facial folds such as nasolabial folds as well as midfacial rejuvenation such as cheek volume. Restylane® Lyft™ is pre-mixed with the anesthetic lidocaine, increasing patient comfort during an injection session. You will most likely feel a small poke of the needle and not much more.
What is Hyaluronic Acid?
Hyaluronic acid is an abundant particle found in the dermis of the skin. It attracts water, imparting moisture (hydration), structure, and firmness to the skin. Hyaluronic acid is abundant in young skin, but degrades slowly over time. Loss of hyaluronic acid in aging skin leads to loss of structural support, volume, and the formation of lines and folds. Replacement of hyaluronic acid with fillers such as Restylane® Lyft™ can volumize and balance areas of the skin that have deflated with time and exposure to environmental factors such as ultraviolet light exposure.
How long does Restylane® Lyft™ last?
The Restylane® family of products are classified as temporary fillers and typically last approximately 6 to 12 months. Although Restylane® Lyft™ typically lasts around 1 year or less, the filler may last longer if more product is used during a single injection session, or if Restylane® Lyft™ is injected in areas of the face with less frequent motion. For example, fillers such as Restylane® Lyft™ tend to be metabolized more quickly around the mouth, where movement is frequent and repetitive, compared to the midface. As Restylane® Lyft™ dissipates, the remaining filler attracts water to the area of wrinkle correction, creating persistent wrinkle and facial fold correction.
Facial areas treated with Restylane® Lyft™
Many areas of the face respond well to Restylane® Lyft™ treatment. This hyaluronic acid filler is FDA-approved for the correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds including the nasolabial folds, marionette lines, vertical lip lines, and corners of the mouth.
Use of Restylane® Lyft™ on the Ear and Nose
This product can be used in often overlooked areas of the face. Small amounts of filler can be used to create small nasal humps, nasal tip drooping, or asymmetry of the nose, creating a liquid rhinoplasty (nose job). Small amounts of Restylane® Lyft™ can also be placed in the earlobes to allow earrings to rest more pleasingly and upright.

Correction of Filler Mistakes
Dr. Aspacio often consults patients with prior, less than great filler outcomes. Overcorrection with Restylane® Lyft™ can be corrected quickly, if necessary, through the use of hyaluronidase – an enzyme that breaks down the entire hyaluronic acid family of filler products.
Safety and Side Effects of the Restylane® Lyft™
There is very little potential for reaction to hyaluronic acid fillers such as Restylane®. Mild swelling and bruising are the most likely side effects following injection. These side effects can be minimized with proper injection technique. Due to the trace protein content found in the fillers due to the manufacturing process, very, very rarely an allergic reaction may result. Dr. Aspacio will always discuss the risks and benefits of treatment at the time of consultation and prior to treatment.
